It's two months now that you went away,
my boy, and no-one knows how hard these two months have been for me.
I thought I could never have another cat, but then some real weird
circumstances and coincidences brought Lucy in my life, not at least your
paintings and your website. I will always believe that it was you who send her
along, when after all she actually is a little relative of yours..
Her fur is grey and much brighter than yours, but she has the same white
triangle in her face that you have had. When you see her in a shadow or with
the lights dimmed down, she really looks like you when you were little. It
always warms my heart, although she looks a bit then like a child in Big
Daddy's suit..
And now she's running around here, using your toys, your dishes, all your
things. She tries hard to walk in your footsteps, but somehow the King's paws
are much too big for her. She always tries jumping and climbing where you have
jumped and climbed, but you can guess how it goes - here a plunge, there a
crash, and another plop.
Yesterday she tried to climb up the living room curtains, but never reached the
ceiling, always plunged down on half the height. Of course I didn't tell her
that the same thing happened to you when you were little...;)
No, I told her how elegant you always climbed up there, and she was mighty
impressed. She practised all night long...
You see she will never really be at your place - it's quite logical that she
can't be my boy, my son, my precious 'King of all Cats'.
What we had has grown so deep within the years, that your place in my heart
will never really be taken by any other cat at all.
But she will be your crown princess, and she will keep us company as long as
you are gone. I tell her all about you.. (of course, only the honorable
majestic stories, not those of you jumping in the dishwater or so..), and she
sure thinks you were the einstein-like Apollon among the tomcats.
And I do believe you will like her when we all meet at the Rainbow Bridge one
day.
Until we meet again, my sweet boy - and don't forget that you will always be
the 'Number One'...
